The cambelt on your vehicle is made of rubber meaning that over time it will perish and become likely to fail, if your cambelt fails it is highly likely that you will get valve to piston contact requiring engine rebuild or worse replacement engine!

It is not uncommon these days on vehicles with a timing chain to have tensioners start to fail and/or timing chain stretch.
